March 17: Arrive in Tel Aviv with transfer to Tiberias Hotel… and travel northward to our hotel along the Sea of Galilee, the center of the ministry of Jesus. The remainder of the day is free to walk along the Sea of Galilee shore, relax, and have dinner. The time is right for a personal devotional and a time of thankful prayer and a good night’s rest.
March 18: Capernaum, Mt. of Beatitudes, St. Peter’s Fish Lunch, Sea of Galilee Cruise, Gadara, Jordan River Baptism Site, Mt. Zion… We begin our tour with a visit to Capernaum where Jesus was many times during his ministry. We’ll visit the ruins of an ancient synagogue and Peter’s home. Next, on to the site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes in Bethsaida and the Mount of the Beatitudes overlooking the Sea. After viewing the ancient Fisherman Boat at an operating Kibbutz, we enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Sea of Galilee. While on board our cruise we’ll have a time of scripture reading, devotional and song as we remember the real life experiences of Jesus and the disciples. We enjoy a St. Peters lunch and then driver by Gadara where Jesus cast the demons into the pigs who then ran and drowned in the Sea. Then we arrive at the Jordan River Baptismal site where we’ll have an opportunity to experience a baptismal service of rededication. Next on to Jerusalem where we’ll enjoy a panoramic view and then check into our hotel where we’ll enjoy our dinner and overnight.
March 19: City of David, Jewish Quarter, Temple Institute, Western Wall, Pool of Bethesda, David, Elah Valley, Beth Shemesh, Philistine Country, Shepherds Fields, View of Bethlehem… After breakfast we begin our sightseeing just outside the Dung Gate on the southeastern hill below the Temple Mount in the City of David. It was during the time of Solomon that the city limits extended past this part of Jerusalem. We visit Gihon Springs, the original water source for Jerusalem, view new excavations including a typical Israelite four-room house, the lower city wall and the cistern where Jeremiah was imprisoned. A highlight today will be a water walk through the incredible Hezekiah's Tunnel to the pool of Siloam, the place of Jesus' miracle in John 9. Next we walk through the Jewish Quarter. Then we will take time to visit the Wailing Wall and then the fascinating Rabbinical Tunnels leading us through the Second Temple era. The tunnel and exhibit give a clear understanding of the amazing construction of the Temple Mount, giant stones, water supply and Roman street where our Lord was led to judgment. Before exiting the tunnel we see the immense cornerstone rejected by the builders. We move on to the Judgment Hall of Pilate, hear of those who conspired against Him and are reminded of His brutal beating and humiliation. From here we will also be able to see the Pool of Bethesda, Stephen's Gate and St. Ann’s Church. This afternoon we depart Jerusalem and travel west through beautiful mountains and the Sorek Valley to Beth Shemesh where the Ark of the Covenant was carried from the Philistines by two cows pulling a cart. The next stop is Tel Azekah and the Valley of Elah, where David defeated Goliath. We then drive to where battles were fought at Mareshah and Lachish, then thru the land of the Philistines, passing the city of Gath and stopping at the river bed in search of smooth stones for our sling. On our way back to Jerusalem we’ll drive through Bethlehem, the birthplace of Christ, and view the Shepherds Fields. March 21: Mt. of Olives, Palm Sunday Road, Garden of Gethsemane, Antonia Fortress, Way of the Cross, Calvary, Garden Tomb, farewell dinner and transfer to airport… Today we walk where Jesus walked; beginning the day with a panoramic view of the city, Mount Moriah and the Dome of the Rock from atop the Mount of Olives and then the Garden of Gethsemane. What joy to walk between the ancient olive trees, read the scriptures of Jesus' prayer and take time for personal reflection. Next we will pass by the Protestant Cemetery, and visit the "Upper Room" just outside the Zion Gate where the disciple whom Jesus loved laid his head on His breast and where later Thomas cried, "my Lord & my God." While walking along the Via Dolorosa, we are reminded of His way of suffering along with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Our guide will explain the different opinions on the route that Christ was led and the actual place of crucifixion and burial. The highlight of the day is the area of Golgotha (place of the skull) and the Garden Tomb, where we celebrate the resurrection with communion and a time of praise. Then we will enjoy some free time this afternoon in the Old City for some last minute shopping before we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and then transfer to the Tel Aviv airport for our late night flight home.
